5 Great Dieting Tips

April 28, 2008

I know when you begin a “diet” you are immediately fighting with your self. All manner of things pop into your mind and if you allow it you fail even before you start. To help you I have compiled a list of 5 helpful tips to get you started on the right track.

1. Plan Ahead. Make sure you have lots of healthy snacks on hand.

2.Grocery Shopping. Remember when shopping for food you are going to eat what you buy so make sure you have a list already made out to help you steer clear of the snacks and cookie isles.

3. Prepare Snacks Ahead. On returning home from the grocery store wash your veggies and prepare snacks like carrot sticks, celery, zuchinni etc. Put your trail mix, pretzels in pre portioned snack bags and leave your fruit out on the counter so when you do have a snack attack the fruit is at hand.

4. When Preparing Meals. substitue ingredients like skim milk instead of 2%, light and fat free salad dressing instead of regular and use ground turkey instead of hamburger. When baking you can cut the sugar by at least 1/4 without loosing the taste.

5. Be Creative in your kitchen by preparing your meals at home instead of a restaurant. If you do find yourself dining out you can always ask for the heart healthy dish which is lower in calories and better for you.

By following these helpful tips you will not only find it easier to stay on your diet you just may end up having renewed energy and feeling more vital then you have in a long time and have an added bonus of seeing those pounds slipping away!

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is.
